The 1450 Brickell project, also known as Met 2, is a 35 story commercial building located in the Brickell Avenue corridor of Miami, which was subjected to the destructive force of hurricane Katrina in 2005. Typical curtain wall units are 5’ wide and range in height from 13’6” to 18’8”, and have been described as the strongest glass façade of any commercial building in the United States. 1450 Brickell has also attained LEED Gold certification, and was completed in 2010.

The extreme wind and impact loads of the façade design required the use of Halfen’s highest capacity anchor for regular slabs, an HAWR long tail using the 55/42 channel profile, which develops over 14,000 pounds resistance to pull-out, and Halfen engineer’s provided support to the designers in determining the correct embed selection. Halfen is able to supply this in standard and custom configurations, as required to meet the building’s geometry. All Halfen embeds allow for on-site adjustment of the installed façade.
